About the Opportunity

The Elyria Site (Lear Romec Brand) offers the most reliable positive displacement pumps in the industry industry consisting of vane, gerotor, and spur gear configurations. Products include lube and scavenge pumps that are ETOPS rated; high contamination resistance gerotor pumps for oil applications; high pressure spur gear pumps; centrifugal fuel pumps and centrifugal coolant pumps.  Our pumps are used on many General Aviation, business jet, commercial transport, and military aircraft applications.

 

We need a talented individual in our Fluid Management Group at our Elyria, OH facility to fill the role of a Senior Buyer.  In this position, you will be responsible for tactical sourcing, negotiation, and supply chain management for machined parts and bronze bearings to support the supply chain. This includes negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors as well as evaluating vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

·         Maintain assigned commodity group to achieve goals for cost, inventory, quality and supplier reductions.

·         Increase the use of current purchasing techniques and alternate replenishment methods including Long Term Supplier Partnering Agreements, Consignment, and Kanban.

·         Working closely in a ‘team environment” to improve communications with internal customers in all areas including Marketing and Finance for pump part quotes, critical shortages, make/buy decisions, cost reductions, material expedites, excess/obsolete, and invoicing errors.

·         Be the “Point Person” on all issues affecting on time delivery of quality product from assigned suppliers.

·         Coordinate meetings and keep management informed of status on any issues that may cause delays in shipments.

·         Prepare, submit, evaluate RFQ’s in a timely manner taking into account quantity analysis, long-term agreements and learning curve pricing, quality requirements and escalation formulas, with goal of meeting or surpassing same requirements flowed down to us by our customers.

·         Prepare, submit, follow up, expedite and maintain all purchase orders, ensuring 100% on time delivery in required volumes and updating status on Oracle ERP system and access based critical shortage tools.

·         Understand the root cause for supplier late deliveries and work with them to develop robust plans and corrective actions to avoid future late deliveries.

·         Own the responsibility for rejected purchased parts, including quick turn around and disposition of rejected material and working with suppliers to drive to root cause completion of corrective action requests in a timely basis.

·         Coordinate all technical communications with suppliers.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience purchasing in a lean manufacturing (preferably aerospace, DOD or technical) environment that uses replenishment systems (Kanban, ARM) with pricing, cost management, material planning, etc.

·         Knowledge: Expert knowledge of raw materials, production, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods and lead time reduction; Knowledge of material planning and scheduling methods.  Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations “FAR” (preferred)

·         Skills:

o         Ability to read and procure using source control drawings. 

o         Demonstrate strong proficiency with MRP (Oracle preferred) and Excel (advanced level preferred).

o         Demonstrated ability to develop, negotiate, and administer long term contracts.

o         Effective interpersonal skills, ability to function as a team member and address conflict constructively.

o         Strong communications and customer care skills when interacting with both internal and/or external customers.

o         Time Management (handle multiple, high priority issues simultaneously)

o         Strong negotiator with a bias toward results and immediate resolution.

o         Metrics driven with an extreme sense of urgency.

o         Critical Thinking (using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems).

·         Education/Certification: Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or applicable functional discipline; CPM / APICS certification is a plus.

·         Eligibility Requirement: Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
