Sr. Field Engineer - Steam turbines

 

TRAVEL:                                Travel Required between locations (not extensive)

Position Summary:

 

Ø  Full support of Steam Turbine Generators and all associated Equipment and Systems, including troubleshooting and repair of machinery within the manufacturing facilities, capital project team assignments, vendor shop inspections and the development and implementation of broad machinery reliability improvement programs relating to the operation, inspection, repair and diagnosis of problems associated with turbines and other associated equipment and support systems to provide maximum availability, efficiency and safe operations. 

Ø  Collaborate with engineers across the fleet.

Ø  Process performance monitoring / reporting of power generation equipment.

Ø  Integration of machinery repair work into reliability engineering, planning and scheduling, purchasing and warehousing work process functions.

Ø  Asset health monitoring (vibration, lube/oil analysis) and follow-up.

Ø  Develop mechanical scope of machinery shutdown work.

Ø  Oversight of field overhauls and significant repairs.

Ø  Monitor asset utilization of power generation equipment and report / implement opportunities for improvement.

 

 

Requirements:

 

Ø  Bachelors Degree in Engineering and 7+ years experience

Ø  Must have experience installing and commissioning, turbine overhaul and/or performance monitoring in preparation for the overhaul (Project Manager on a major overhaul)

Ø  Candidates must be self-starters with the ability to actively seek reliability improvement opportunities, develop improvement plans, provide economic justification and make effective presentations for requests/approvals.  

Ø  Comprehensive knowledge of steam turbines, generators and their associated systems, as well as auxiliary equipment such as pumps, hydraulic couplings and gearboxes.

Ø  Must have proven analytical ability in order to solve operational and maintenance problems such as those associated with power generating equipment.

Ø  Must have practical knowledge of engineering principles and applications such as heat transfer, fluid mechanics, dynamics, material science, metallurgy, drafting symbols, inspection methods, root cause failure analysis, and mechanical theory.
