Supplier Quality Engineer
Covidien is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to provide support to the development and manufacture of Covidien products. The position will have responsibility for delivering project objectives and driving improved supply chain capability. In addition, the role will provide component and product inspection support to the Quality Engineering department. The Supplier Quality Engineer will work with personnel from Sourcing, Manufacturing and Design to resolve component quality issues. The position will work in a commodity team to monitor supply chain performance and conduct audits, as necessary. The position will aid in ensuring that Covidien products are developed in accordance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements and customer requirements. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES - Work effectively with suppliers to resolve component/service quality issues and to support process/product changes - Use statistical tools to analyze in-coming inspection data (this includes, First Article Inspection, Process Capability Assessment, and Special Inspection) - Evaluate component criticality by utilizing FMECA as required - Assist in scrap reduction - Disposition NCMRs at incoming inspection - Issue and drive corrective action at suppliers - Develop testing protocols and analyze data - Evaluate existing, custom test set-ups for repeatability and conduct correlation studies - Generate technical reports for component qualification and process capability studies - Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications of components, assemblies and equipment - Set-up and use standard measurement and gauging equipment - Work with personnel in other departments to conduct complex test activities, acquire test samples and use-shared equipment - Lead supplier audits - Evaluate supplier data for received products to ensure conformance to specification and drive improved process capability in supply chain - Coordinate efforts with Purchasing and Materials Management - Manage Dock to Stock program - Comply with applicable FDA and international regulatory laws/standards and the Covidien Code of Conduct
