UK Supply Chain Operations Controller
Job Description
Reports to Supply Chain Manager
Purpose of the job
- To primarily act as the link between Operations, Retailer services, Sales and Credit control to facilitate the UK inbound stock sell through.
- To provide administrative support in managing the ordering, physical movement and visibility of freight from the point of origin, through cargo ready to ship and delivery to the UK channel.
- Lead the communication of stock visibility, availability and flow to the Retailer Services team and credit control.
- To supply the factory with purchase orders and maintain those purchase orders throughout the life cycle of production, transit and receipt into UK stock.
- To providing the link between the factories, relevant freight forwarders and Operations department, ensuring issues are raised, resolved and feedback/action can flow quickly and effectively.
- To assist the Supply Chain Manager in assessing the performance of the factories via a framework of operational KPI’s and regular performance reviews.
- To generate, collate and issue freight and factory plan visibility reports on a daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc basis
- To support the sales and operations departments ensuring agreed operational processes are adhered to by the factories
- To play a pivotal role in supporting the UK stock allocation process
- To act as front line contact with the UK 3PL distribution centres, managing their daily activities and priorities and daily targets are met
What are you accountable for achieving?
- To chair the daily meeting between Retail Services, Merchandising, Operations and Credit Control; agreeing and implementing the most effective use of inventory to allow processing of sales orders into dispatched and invoiced orders
- Effective communication to all departments of all Purchase Order production progress and likely delays
- Assessing and communicating the effect of production and clearance delays on pre-booked sales orders and agreeing a method to maximise the sales plan
- Ensuring that lead-time agreements are met and bettered wherever possible
- Providing administrative support in implementing the KPI’s set on the factory by the Supply Chain Manager and ensuring any penalties are recording and reimbursed to Finance.
- Lowest possible freight cost per unit through efficient PO management and load disciplines at origin
- Providing support and absence cover for the Supply Chain Manager
What technical knowledge do you need?
- System and administration skills developed on modern ERP systems ie Navision, SAP etc
- A good understanding of general merchandise ordering processes and factory operations
- A working understanding of warehouse receiving operations and pick to dispatch processes
- A sound knowledge of freight / logistics movements and terms of purchase
- An experience based knowledge of the direct procurement supply chain
- A basic understanding of transit modularity particularly loose boxed and palletized freight.
What business skills do you need?
- Excellent skills on Microsoft applications, particularly Excel
- Experience working on modern ERP systems ie MS Navision, SAP, JDE, etc
- Strong numerical, analytical and interpretive skills
- A proactive, “can do” attitude
- A willingness to push yourself beyond your comfort zone and develop working knowledge and skills in new areas
- Strong interpersonal, negotiating and communication skills
- Ability to initiate and build strong working relationships with other team members, factories, service providers and customers
