Position Description

Systems Engineer for the Acoustic Programs Business area performing system engineering tasks for Acoustic Processing Systems utilized on Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) aircraft. This includes but is not limited to the P-8A, P-3C, SH-60 and international Maritime Patrol Aircraft. Define system requirements, perform hardware/software requirements allocation, support system development, integration, test and verification. Tasks include requirements definition, specification development, test plan development, performing hardware/software integration tasks, coordinating laboratory testing efforts and performing both informal and formal verification testing in the Acoustic Subsystem Integration Lab in Anaheim. Define specific requirements for integration and verification test, interact with hardware, software and management teams and other parts of the Seattle P-8A Mission System Integrated Product Team (IPT) to understand requirements and direct or provide test objective guidance. Provide integration plan, verification plans, develop test procedures, execute the test and generate test report for the Acoustic Subsystem. Follow through and resolve open problems during test phases. Also includes reviewing subcontractor provided data items for conformance to procurement and customer requirements. Should have Airborne ASW experience with acoustic subsystem experience. Current experience on maritime patrol multi-statics operations and Tactical Support Center operations and mission planning is also required. A detailed knowledge of US Navy ASW capability enhancement plans strongly desired. Candidate must have DoD Secret clearance with TS SSBI strongly desired.

Basic Qualifications For Consideration

Are you willing to travel up to 50% of the time to various US east coast test facilities?

Do you have a current/active Secret security clearance or a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)? (Note: If you held a security clearance within the last two years, your clearance is considered current/active).

Do you have Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) experience with acoustic subsystem experience?

Typical Education/Experience

Level 2 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 3 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information

Should have experience writing and developing plans, procedures, schedules and executing integration and verification testing for ASW acoustic processing systems. Additional experience in the areas of Systems Architecture, Systems Engineering, Integration, Test and Evaluation a plus. Should have a technical understanding of acoustic sensor algorithms and modeling/simulation techniques. The candidate should have the ability to perform a variety of tasks in a dynamic team environment. The candidate should have strong communication skills and be able to work with all levels of management. Experience with imbedded systems and red/black mixed networks is also highly desired. Candidate will have the ability to travel up to approximately 50% to various locations on the east coast of the US to support test activities.
