GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:  Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate new cavities and complete injection molds by performing the following duties.

·         Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate an injection mold or repair a damaged mold.

·         Computes dimensions, plans layouts, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.

·         Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder to machine parts and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.

·         Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.

·         Examines molds, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications to improve the function of molds.

·         Maintains a clean work area.

·         Practices safe working habits and adheres to all safety standards.

·         Maintains records in compliance with QS-9000 applicable procedures.
