Trade Surveillance Manager

The role being recruited for would best be described as a Trade Surveillance Quality Assurance Analyst. My client understands that this is a rare skill set which doesn't currently exist so is happy to look at someone from a mixed background.

Candidates from a Control background would be a good fit for this role as long as they have a very good understanding of Trade Surveillance. An auditor would also be a good fit for this type of role as long as they have strong product knowledge in Fixed Income (primarily FX, Rates, Credit and Structuring).

Background

My client has implemented a global trade surveillance programme which is currently in the second phase of delivery. There are a large number of junior analysts in the team whose job it is to review alerts generated by the trade surveillance system (APAMA) and make a decision as to whether the alert can be closed off or needs further investigation. There is also a team of senior analysts who are responsible for reviewing alerts which the analysts are unable to make a judgment on. A typical timeline would be:

This role will be to act as a Quality Assurance specialist and carry out the following duties.

Oversight of QA processes.

Weekly checks on a sample of alerts generated by the trade surveillance system to make sure they were closed off properly.

Monthly QA reports detailing efficiency of processes and analytics.

Look at processes to make sure they're all working as they should be and making recommendations for amendments to make them more effective.

Bi-annual Risk Assessments.

The role of the QA will be to make sure the Trade Surveillance team remain honest with themselves.

Other activites would be looking at the 20 defined controls in place for this workstream and develop more detailed Risk and Control checks.

This role would suit either someone from an Audit background with knowledge of Surveillance or someone who has run a Trade Surveillance team and has a background in Control.

This role is Contract to Perm due to the speed with which a candidate is needed.
