VP Private Banking Credit Risk recruitment

Responsibilities:

• Pre-screen appropriate transactions and communicate with Origination team, Sales coverage and/or Financial Advisor.

• Responsible for conducting all due diligence on new credit requests including credit analysis, financial statement analysis, client calls and visits.

• Develop and negotiate structuring recommendations within context of firm’s credit policy and philosophy. Produce high quality credit memoranda clearly outlining transaction, purpose, strengths, risks and mitigates.

• Make approval or decline recommendations to Credit Approval authorities or Credit Committee as applicable. Articulate recommendation in a clear, concise and informed manner. Demonstrate acceptable level of preparation and knowledge.

• Work with internal and external legal counsel to prepare loan agreements. Negotiate and execute loan agreements.

• Manage all loan requests within stated turn times unless justified as an exception. Manage expectations through active communication with Origination Team, FA and/or Sales Coverage.

• Provide guidance on procedures and make recommendations where appropriate

• Provide for accurate, complete and timely hand-off of transactions to Portfolio Management team after booking and funding and to Loan Operations team for booking and funding.

• Ensure accurate and timely update of Origination Workflow Tracker and data base management system.

• Participate in ongoing pipeline meetings. Facilitate meeting budgeted loan volume goals through efficient and timely processing of loan requests.

• Extend training and sales support, as needed through ongoing interactions with business/sales/financial advisors.

• Maintain ongoing communication with Origination Team, Financial Advisor Coverage, management and Financial Advisors.   

Requirements:

• 7+ years credit risk experience in private banking, wealth management or commercial banking in lending

• Formal commercial credit training required

• Broad experience providing counterparty credit risk for lending portfolios within the private bank

• Excellent Communication skills, proactive approach to resolution of process deficiencies

• Bachelor degree required. CPA/CA preferred
