This position supports the Web Production team in the development of engaging online experiences, helping to deliver targeted content that drives community interaction and retention. Candidates should demonstrate experience with the latest methods of web publishing. Subject expertise in the visual arts, education, not-for-profit marketing, and/or press interaction is desirable.
Our Web Developer is expected to collaborate with a team of software engineers, designers, writers, editors and producers as well as colleagues from departments across the Getty to create engaging digital content for the Getty's website, mobile experiences and social media initiatives. Responsibilities include web development using HTML, CSS, XML, Drupal, WordPress, Photoshop, Flash/ActionScript and JavaScript; basic A/V editing, integration and optimization skills; content review and editing; quality control of site design, content, organization and navigation; and be prepared to train other Getty staff on web editing, content design, usage, and guidelines. Candidates should have familiarity using a content management system. Candidates should also have efficient integration techniques and a solid understanding of "good practice" when working in a complex web development environment. Proficiency in AJAX, JQuery a plus. This candidate should have the ability to multi-task, maintain project deadlines and work in a team environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

- Development in emerging technologies like mobile devices, augmented reality, multi-touch applications
- Research and development of video/audio streaming
- APIs like Google Maps and Flickr

* Applies knowledge of web editing and content design to assignments of moderate complexity * Assists in assessing and improving content and structure of web sites within a team environment * Researches and analyzes topics to enhance web site content * Gathers client feedback on web site content and presentation

* Bachelors degree relevant field * 2-5 years web editing and content design experience * Knowledge of data and web publishing standards * Excellent teamwork and communication skills * Expert skills in HTML, CSS, and image production for the web * Experience in developing dynamic, data-driven applications using Flash/ActionScript, JavaScript, and XML * Knowledge of HTML5 coding standards
