Windows Server Systems Administrator

Job Description: A Windows Server 2003 Systems Administrator is needed on Raytheon's ITC program.   This program supports the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).  Job location is the Sterling/Ashburn area of Northern Virginia.
 
The Windows 2003 Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the transition of Windows-based entities into the ITC Datacenter's next generation environment.  The hired candidate must possess general experience in operating and supporting large-scale computer systems in a multi-server environment. 
  
The systems administrator also performs the following tasks:
- Plans and executes the installation and configuration of Windows Server 2003 into the ITC Datacenter including configuring, optimizing, monitoring, operating, and maintaining systems.
- Designs and administers programs to include policies, standards, guidelines, and training programs.
- Uses Altiris for provisioning Windows Server 2003 operating systems.
- Oversees and reviews the testing and implementation of software, data systems, and data networks to ensure that the integrity and security of all electronic data and data systems are adequately protected.
- Assists in the coordination and establishment of disaster recovery programs and business resumption planning across mainframe and client server platforms.
- Coordinates and monitors simulation testing across all platforms.
- Plans and executes patches, IAVAs, taskings and advisories and troubleshooting problems.
- Supports team peer reviews and formal design reviews for new baseline configurations and products.
- Supports product selection processes (trade studies) for new infrastructure devices and software (as required).
 
Required Skills:  
- Current and active TS/SCI clearance (no exceptions)
- Security+, CISSP, or equivalent DoD 8570 certification required
- Windows System administrator experience with Windows Server 2003
- Windows Server 2008 experience
- Experience with Server Virtualization with VMware
- Experience managing Windows and Windows clustered environments
- Experience in planning future server capacity
- Experience in implementing disaster recovery processes and procedures
- Ability to maintain problem tracking and resolution at a detailed level for service requests
- Ability to design and implement server solutions
- Experience in patching, user administration, troubleshooting
- Experience with Active Directory administration, OU configuration, and group policy
- Must be fluent using standard Windows administrator-only commands
- Must be fluent in the management of user accounts
- Must be versed in Windows Networking and be able to install, configure, and manage network components in a Windows system
- Must be able to resolve performance issues
- Must be versed in implementing basic Windows Security
- Limited Hardware Platform (Windows/Wintel - Dell) skills needed
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
 
Desired Skills:
- Experience in Intelligence Operations Experience with Windows clustering technologies (Veritas Cluster services or other)
- Experience with Remedy and opening/closing/transferring problem tickets
- Experience with Datacenter/Server Operational Components (Monitoring, Management, etc.)
- Asset Management experience with tools and process
 
Required Education (including Major): This position requires a BS degree in a technical field and six or more years of relevant work experience.    Experience can substitute for education.
