As part of the statewide expansion of the Youth Justice Group Conferencing (YJGC) Program, Barwon Youth is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated convenor to assist in the delivery of the program across the Geelong and Colac region.
The program, funded by the Department of Human Services, is based on restorative justice principles and provides a problem-solving approach to offending that aims to balance the needs of young people, victims and the community.
The position requires an understanding of young people and the Youth Justice system, experience in group facilitation/mediation, highly developed interpersonal skills and capacity to negotiate with professionals including magistrates, solicitors, police and victims services.
Applicants for the YJGC Convener position must possess qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work or related Social Science discipline. Conditions as per the Social Community, Home Care Disability Services Industry Award 2010. Salary is in accordance with SACS Award Qualified Youth Worker Class 3. An attractive salary package is offered including pro-rata 5 weeks paid Annual Leave (with option of additional week Purchased Leave).
