1ST SHIFT CNC TURRET PRESS SET-UP/OPERATOR

Our client, located in Des Plaines is a leader in the design and fabrication of precision metal products serving growing industries worldwide. We are currently recruiting for a 1st Shift CNC Turret Press Set-up/Operator. This is a Temporary to Hire Opportunity. Job duties include: Sets up and operates turret punch press including utilizing the tooling library to maximize the production performance of the machinery. -Downloads and follows set-up procedures and programs for punching metallic or nonmetallic sheets. -Coordinates with Engineering to make temporary or permanent changes to programs to enhance the production performance and/or quality of the part. -Observes machine while operating to monitor accurate punching of parts and equipment performance. -Uses precision measuring tools including Virtek inspection scanner to ensure part meets specifications. -Inspects and measures parts, as required, to maintain quality records. -Loads and/or unloads material sheets, skeletons, or parts, as required. -Maintains accurate counts of parts; attaches labels or tags to finished part containers identifying customer, part number, quantity and shop order information. -Utilizes the data collection system to accurately record production activities including time spent, quantity produced and any rejected parts. -Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate job activities. -Follows all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required. -Performs all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards. -Ensures on a daily basis that the work area is clean and orderly including machine, tooling and workstation. -(May) Maintain sharpness of tooling/punches using grinding equipment. -(May) Establish and maintain the tooling library to ensure maximum production performance. Working hours: 1st Minimum of 5 years related manufacturing education or work experience with set-up and operation of CNC turrets in a sheet metal fabrication environment. Blueprint reading, shop mathematics and ability to read a micrometer and caliper is required. Experience with Wiedemann or FinnPower turrets a plus.
