2 x Market Risk Analysts for Commodity Trading function of Oil and Gas Major based in London
My client is the Commodity Trading arm of a Large Oil Gas Major based in London. They are looking for two experienced Market Risk Analysts, with previous exposure to Gas, Power and CO2 ideally, to join their market leading trading team. The key requirement is to conduct Risk Analysis on the current portfolio, keeping trading positions accurately up to date.
The team are looking to grow substantially in 2013 so the opportunity exists for an analyst / senior analyst to join the team and help shape the future of the Market Risk team, ultimately giving the right candidate the chance to step into leadership positions in the future.
The main responsibilities of this role are:
- Working in a fast paced , dynamic team environment
- To carry out risk analysis by creating the daily risk management reports (covering physical position, mark to market, value at risk, scenario analysis and credit exposure.
- To highlight any variances (or potential future variances) of the trading activity compared to the mandate.
- To manage any ad hoc risk analysis.
- To maintain the trading position by updating the trading books/trading and risk management system with deals and process.
- To carry out confirmations and invoicing in order to resolve any trading / finance / counterparty reconciliation issues.
- To provide ad hoc support to the General Accountant with the trading related invoices
- To liaise with external counterparties regarding invoicing.
- To carry out Ad hoc project work.
The ideal candidate will have:
- University degree preferably in Economics, Finance or quantitative disciplines.
- Understanding of the energy markets is a prerequisite.
- Risk experience in Gas. Experience with Power and CO2 would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and in particular strong Excel skills.
- Banking/ Financial Service/ Commodity or Trading background.
- Analytical mind.
- Attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build and nurture effective relationships across multiple disciplines
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in rapidly changing environment
- Proactive approach to problem solving, and ability to identify and set priority actions and handle a high workload.
- Full command of English language (written and spoken).
