American Greetings has an Internship opportunity within our Creative Products Team starting in June 2012. This is a ten-week, paid internship. Housing will be provided for individuals not originally from the Cleveland, Ohio area. We are looking for a rising Junior or Senior.
The Creative Products intern will gain an overall better understanding of general business and marketing concepts and how they apply to real world scenarios. Concepts include the full product life cycle (line development and management to production, execution and distribution), POS/SWAT analysis, competitive analysis, go to market strategies including pricing and placement. He/She will also gain insight into the Creative, Sales, and fulfillment processes as well as our Customers/Retailers by learning their overall expectations and points of differentiation. He/She will get experience with two major and very different product categories (Boxed Cards and Gift Packaging).
You will be given a list of projects with expected completion time frames and is expected to manage/prioritize workload needs through the Summer. Projects include analyzing prior year POS to help Product Management develop the new product line; Obtain and analyze information on the competition (such as subject matter, colors etc..); Conduct survey's and tally data/results; Become fully integrated into the department by attending meetings and participating in the daily functions associated with product management.
Required Length Type of Experience:
0-3 years of prior retail/consumer product experience in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is critical.
Knowledge, Skills Abilities:
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary due to the nature level of interaction with peers and management.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and math skills.
- Knowledge of marketing principles.
- Ability to work a team environment and to work independently.
- Strong PC skills to include excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
