2013 Investment Management – Real Estate Summer Analyst Program

Position Description

As part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), Real Estate Investing (REI) leverages the expertise, relationships and franchise of the Firm. Its professionals around the world provide acquisition as well as finance and asset management services, covering investments across the risk/return and geographic spectrums. These include Class A core buildings in major metropolitan areas, residential development properties, and real estate management and operating companies in both emerging and developed markets.

Placement and Duration
Our Summer Analyst program is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to Real Estate investing by having Summer Analysts assume the functions of Full-Time Analysts for 10-12 weeks. You will work on a variety of transactions, analyze new acquisition opportunities and help manage investment portfolios, all while receiving guidance from senior professional who will further encourage you to go beyond the numbers and think creatively.

Training Program
This intensive 10-12 week program generally commences in December. You begin with an orientation to Morgan Stanley's business, followed by training on our Real Estate Investing team. You will have many opportunities to intergrate and work with peers and senior staff on a day to day basis.

Responsibilities
• Collecting and synthesising financial and operating information about potential investment opportunities and industries.
• Creating financial models.
• Gathering market data to analyse trends and help value and price transactions.
• Drafting presentations and memoranda for a wider audience within the Firm.
• Attending team discussions and partner meetings, where you may be asked to deliver parts of a presentation.

Skills Required

• You must be a university student in your final year of study with strong academic standing. Students must have completed their studies by the end of 2014 to be eligible.
• You have a strong interest in the financial markets.
• You should be analytical, a quick learner, team player and possess a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• You must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to form effective working relationships through collaboration and exhibit the highest ethical standards.

First-round and final-round interviews take place with Real Estate Investing (REI) Business Representatives at our Morgan Stanley offices.
