Nomura’s investment banking division provides a vast array of advisory and capital-raising solutions to corporations, financial institutions, governments and public-sector organizations around the world. Our global teams act as geographic, product and industry specialists.
We deliver Asia to our clients – accessing deep pools of liquidity and dynamic growth markets. We have cross-border collaboration in MA, DCM, ECM, and solutions businesses, and across global sectors such as FIG, natural resources and power, and financial sponsors.
The Healthcare team is a global team with over 30 bankers with specialist teams in London, New York, Tokyo and Mumbai and country support elsewhere in Europe, Asia and also the US. There are currently 6 bankers in Europe
Areas of expertise within the Healthcare team include Pharma, Generics, Biotechnology, Medtech and Services and clients include leading corporate and private equity.
The team is friendly and very collaborative, promoting a dynamic and informal atmosphere. The goal is to give all new joiners broad exposure to the sector and the team’s key accounts through being a core component of the marketing effort plus live transaction experience. Team is enjoying a growing traction within the sector and is working on a number of live transactions.
Role Description
- Junior sector bankers will be involved throughout the deal lifecycle. Typical components of work include financial analysis, financial due diligence, process management, client deal team interaction and management presentations.
- Broad engagement across teams / groups, for example: MA, Leverage Finance, DCM, ECM, Structured and Risk solutions (e.g., IR or FX derivatives)
- Involvement in broad range of deals, for example: sell-side, buy-side, corporate, sponsors
Desired profile, qualifications and knowledge required
This role will specifically support the Healthcare team with the desired candidates likely to have:
- A proven background in Corporate finance / MA with ideally some sector specialisation in healthcare or related industries
- Experience in the healthcare sector and knowledge of industry trends and / or past deal exposure is a distinct advantage
- Excellent financial modelling experience (operating models, capital models, merger models, LBO, etc )
- Distinctive academic record: consistently rated in the top 10% of the peer group
- Solid analytical skills, including ability to perform data analysis
- Strong communications skills – ability to interact confidently with banking professionals
- Team work – experience of working in a project based environment with tight deadlines and as part of a broader team
