a researcher in molecular plant science (m/f) (m/f) Job in Belvaux

The Centre de Recherche Public - Gabriel Lippmann, a fast growing public establishment for applied scientific research and technology transfer in Luxembourg, has an opening on a permanent contract basis for its internationally recognized Department ‘Environment and Agro-biotechnologies’ (EVA) for:

a researcher in molecular plant science (m/f)

(Ref: EVA-260312-CHREPLANT)

Duties and responsibilities:

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on RD projects on the interactions between mineral nutrition and cell wall dynamics in plants using a systems biology approach. The projects include international partners and will furthermore benefit from the scientific and technical know-how present in the chemistry, proteomics and metabolomics platforms of the department EVA.

The objectives of the RD projects are to (1) evaluate the impact disbalances in the availability of mineral nutritional microelements, shortage and excess availability, have on the production yield and quality of fibers produced by plants by applying a systems biology approach; (2) assess the matching of characteristics of the biopolymers produced with those demanded for industrial applications; (3) develop and/or optimize methods that allow performing the analyses required to achieve the ambitious goals of the research programme.

The work of the plant molecular biologist will consist mainly in the development and application of methods in plant molecular biology and cell imaging aimed at understanding cellular mechanisms linking mineral nutrition and cell wall dynamics in plants. Besides, in situ localization of genes, proteins and metabolites will be extensively applied.

The researcher will interact with the existing project team to produce a comprehensive insight on the dynamics of plant cell wall biopolymer production.

Qualifications:

- The candidate must have a record of publications in peer reviewed scientific journals.

- Applicants must demonstrate good skills in oral communication and an interest to work on intra- and interdepartmental multidisciplinary projects. The ability to work productively in a team environment is an essential attribute. These qualities should at its best be documented by some experience in a research environment.

- The candidate must be fluent in English (scientific exchange), good knowledge of French (administrative language) is an advantage.
