Opportunity
An opportunity exists for the appointment of a Workforce Accountant within the Financial Control and Reporting team, reporting to the Senior Workforce Accountant. This role will be primarily responsible for the accounting and reporting of Workforce for the Business Units of MG.
In addition to the accounting of actual workforce data, the team is responsible for producing plans, forecasts and associated statutory and management information for staff related costs across all MG business units and entities.
The team will interact with all Finance teams, HR and cost department managers in MG on a daily basis.
Key responsibilities
*Liaison with HR and cost department managers to ensure monthly headcount, FTE and other employee details are correct in Hyperion.
*Development, control and maintenance of the recruitment pipeline process with HR and cost department managers.
*Completion of the quarterly forecast process in Hyperion including the responsibility for communicating starters, leavers and transfers in Hyperion, to the Workforce Payroll Accountant.
*Production of monthly workforce reporting and analysis, consisting of actuals, plan and forecast with associated variances, for incorporation into monthly cost centre packs.
*Work closely with the Cost Accounting team, taking an active lead in the meetings held with the cost department managers to discuss actuals, plan and forecast.
*Regular discussion with relevant BU Finance Team to gain awareness of the evolving BU strategy.
*Drilling down into the relevant detail from MG strategy communications to reflect associated changes in the forecast.
*Co-ordinated liaison with HR, BU Finance and cost department managers for the production of the three year detailed level workforce plan in Hyperion and preparation of the associated analysis.
*Preparation and maintenance of standard and ad hoc reports and resolution of queries.
*Provision of technical expertise on workforce matters, to the BU Finance teams..
*Assistance with bonus and LTIP related tasks, gaining a clear understanding of the underlying calculations.
*Involvement with system development, as required.
*Documentation of workflow and work procedures.
*Contingency cover within the team
What we are looking for
Skills
*An eye for detail and a proven ability to work to tight deadlines.
*A good working knowledge of Hyperion Workforce Planning.
*Strong analytical skills with an ability to produce, analyse and present results.
*Good communication and presentation skills are essential with a focus on relationship building. Analysis will need to be explained to individuals both within and outside of Finance and it is therefore essential that candidates are confident in interacting with staff at all levels.
*Understand fully the requirements and implications of their role/team and provide challenge where appropriate.
*An ability to exercise tight controls over own processes.
*A strong initiative to improve processes and implement changes to existing ones.
*Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality over sensitive data and information.
Experience
*Final stages part qualified/newly qualified accountant with experience in finance and accounting including accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting.
*Experience with Ceridian, PeopleSoft and SUN GL an advantage
*Knowledge of payroll and accounting practices and principles.
