The Embassy of Australia in The Hague invites applications for the position of the Accountant.

 

The position is being offered on a full-time basis for an initial fixed 12 month contract.  The base gross salary for this position will be €3,120 per month.  Additional benefits include vacation bonus of 8% and 25 days leave. 

 

The terms of employment will be in accordance with the Conditions of Service and The Hague-based Staff Employee Handbook.

 

The Australian Embassy in The Hague will not be responsible for any costs incurred when applying for a work visa, relocation costs, nor the return of the officer and or family to their country of origin at the end of the contract.

 

Job Description

 

As a member of the Administrative team reporting to the Finance Manager, the position is responsible for the overall management of the accounting function at the Embassy.

 

Tasks and Functions

 

Tasks and functions include but are not limited to:

·                   Prepare and process all financial-related transactions (payments, receipts, reimbursements, advances, deposits) for the Embassy

·                   Assist the Finance Manager with the management of the Embassy’s budget.

·                   Prepare end of month reports and assist with end of year reporting.

·                   Calculate and process local staff salaries.

·                   Maintain accurate records of staff entitlements.  Ensure advances and acquittals are kept current and reimbursements are processed on time.

·                   Maintain comprehensive accounting records and ensure expenditure is recorded against appropriate codes.

·                   Other administrative and finance duties as required.

1. Demonstrated finance and accounting experience – Essential

2. Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills – Essential

3. Takes initiative and is responsive to the operational needs of the organisation – Essential

4. Proficiency in, or the ability to quickly learn, SAP Financial Management and Microsoft Office– Desirable

5. Familiarity of accounting concepts and/or Tertiary training in Accounting/or Business Management– Essential

6. Fluency in Dutch and English – Essential
