Summary:
We are recruiting for an entry-level Accountant for a long-term temporary position with an investment firm located in Madison, Wisconsin. This individual could start right away, but no later than January 16, 2012, and continue through at least July 15, 2012. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a professional work environment to provide daily investment fund accounting. This individual will work closely with an experienced team to cover a maternity leave.
Responsibilities:
- Help perform daily investment fund accounting transactions and preparation of financial statements for performance and board reports.
- Provide daily fund accounting and quality control review of end-of-day reports for both open and closed-end mutual funds, primarily working with option files.
- Coordinate record retention and workflow for the funds using OnBase (will be able to train).
- Provide assistance with administrative and regulatory compliance filings
- Research and summarize technical industry issues such as option roles, QCCOs, clearing agent issues, etc.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly preparation of postings, fixed income back-testing, portfolio reporting, and other reports.
- Assist with annual 1099 filings with vendors government, prepare gain/loss schedules for funds tax returns, and work with CPA firms on option fund audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 1 year professional work experience in the accounting field. Applicable internship experience would be considered.
- General knowledge and understanding of legal, regulatory and accounting principles which directly affect the mutual fund industry and their clients.
- Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Hours can be flexible but this individual will need to work between the hours of 3-5 each day to complete end-of-day processing. Pay $16-17/hr.
