Reporting directly to the CFO the role is central to the efficient operation of the business and offers varied responsibilities across Financial and Management Accounting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review the monthly reports from the third party suppliers for accuracy and reasonableness. Provide trend analysis and explanation of major variances.
- Review the financial controls at the administrator including bank and petty cash reconciliations, suspense accounts and the fixed asset register.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget, including business unit budgets based on data supplied, such as actual performance, previous budget figures, estimated expense and strategic plans.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of budget control systems, including regular reporting and monitoring of expenses versus budget. Also review expense coding and cost centre analysis.
- Prepare quarterly forecast and reserve reconciliation.
- Develop and enhance product costing model, and update it on a regular basis by reviewing assumptions and actual results.
- Assist business units in analysing and tracking costs v benefits for specific projects or campaigns.
- Analyse financial reports and records and make recommendations relating to accounting for reserves, assets and other significant financial factors. Monitor changes in accounting standards that affect Funds and ensure data is captured to allow implementation of new standards.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements, including planning and liaison with external audit.
- Review monthly BAS, quarterly APRA returns, annual income tax and FBT returns.
- Other ad hoc projects and tasks as required.
To be successful in your application you will possess strong attention to detail and organisational skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively with employees at different levels across the business.
A CA/CPA qualification and prior experience in Financial and Management Accounting is essential and a demonstrable industry track record in Funds Management, Custody or Superannuation will be highly regarded.
