Accounting and Reporting Gas Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen at a leading commodities trading business for an Accounting and Reporting Gas Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to drive the Gas function in both a physical and financial capacity within this growth business.
The role is part of a team responsible for the accounting and reporting of European Gas entities. Due to the Gas Front Office growth, part of the team's responsibilities will be project focused as well as being responsible for the monthly PnL. This will include taking responsibility for understanding new business and the continuous improvement of existing processes and systems.
The individual will be responsible for:
· Support the Accounting Reporting Manger to ensure that the business financial reporting is performed to the Group Accounts
· Provide assistance to business teams to aid their understanding of the accounting results and raise questions to business teams to understand changes in business
· Help with the implementation of projects that can have an impact on the accounts as the subject matter expert
· Strive to improve processes and integrity of data around monthly close with a view to simplify and standardise processes eg balance sheet netting / long term contractual commitments
· Perform contracts validation exercise by working with the Front Office
· Complete quarterly Balance sheet and Turnover netting and MTM processes.
Complete quarterly PL and Balance Sheet analysis
Requirements of the successful candidate:
Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or overseas equivalent)
Group Accounting experience
Previous commodities or trading experience would be advantageous
Working knowledge of financial products
