Accounting Associate recruitment
PEAK6 is currently seeking an Accounting Associate to join our Finance team. Although centered on the Accounts Payable function, this individual will have exposure to, impact on and responsibility for reporting to the Technology business unit. In addition, our expectation of this individual is that they will have a keen interest in continuing to refine our processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Skills Responsibilities:
Daily:
- Responsible for processing accounts payable and cash disbursement activity, as well as managing vendor communication
- Organize and schedule management approval to ensure all payables have proper approvals according to corporate policy
- Own the understanding of our vendors, the key contacts and payment requirements, and engage in negotiating on terms and conditions of payment
- Research vendor inquiries and respond to vendors
- Coordinate with our internal technology group on project activity, organizing service decommission dates, critical contract dates, and exchange fee schedules
Monthly:
- Perform assigned monthly general ledger closing and reporting processes
- Work with key counterparts to properly allocate shared costs and delivery reporting to respective accountants and technology business leads
- Deliver and develop new management reporting
Other:
- Identify, design, and implement process improvements and policies for greater efficiency through collaboration with teammates, managers, and key counterparts throughout the organization
- Assist with other accounting duties and special projects as needed
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree
- Experience with Great Plains software is preferred
- Strong analytical ability and perseverance to solve problems with minimal oversight
- Ability to professionally interact with employees and management
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks within an established timeline
- Must be a team player and capable of working in a fast paced environment
- Strong commitment to ethics and integrity
