- Prepares and manages the preparation of a broad range of individual and entity tax returns including those with high degrees of complexity
- Reviews prior year tax returns and work papers for understanding; ensures assigned staff are aware of issues related to the engagement
- Identifies, resolves and dcouments technical issues of high complexity; assists lower-level associates with resolution of issues
- Identifies changes in laws, regulations or client situations that may require a change in approach or methodology fo rthe client; determines appropriate course of action
- Ensures client files are complete, properly cross-referenced and memos exist for all positions taken
- Has primary responsibility for a broad range of clients, including those of high complexity
- Plans and organizes client assignments; delegates work to assigned associates
- Directs and monitors the work of associates, following up to ensure work is performed to standard
- Conducts top review and signs returns
- Manages assigned client project to completion, ensuring deadlines are met and returns and other documentation filed on time
- Keeps team members informed of new and pertinent tax developments
- Identifies opportunities to leverage principal, personal and associate workloads by appropriate delegation of responsibilities
- Review work in progress and prepares bills; communicates with clients regarding billing status
- Maintains client relationships and takes active role in marketing initiatives
- Maintains client relationships during non-engagement periods
- Participates, in a leadership role, in the activities of relevant professional and community groups; builds a network of current and potential clients
- Demonstrates success at identifying cross-selling opportunities at current clients
- Attends networking events, performs community service projects and develops a presence in the community
- Attends regional and national professional meetings and seminars; participates actively by taking a leadership role in program development, presenting seminars, authoring articles and technical memoranda, etc
- Demonstrates ability to generate regular and measurable business with new clients
Requirements:
- Possesses a Bachelors Degree with a major in accounting or a related field, and has received the CPA certification
- Has at least two years experience in public accounting environment at the Manager level
- Has established expertise in a particular industry or tax area and is recognized throughout the firm as a "go-to" person in the specialty
- Demonstrates expertise in tax research; can solve and accurately document resolution of complex tax issues through knowledge of the Code and use of research tools
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of tax savings and planning opportunities such as tax deferral ideas, credits, utilization of attributes, changing character of income, etc and the ability to apply these ideas to client situations
