About this Position:
We are seeking an accounting manager to coordinate and manage the daily activity of four (4) Company general ledgers and lead the month end close and account reconciliation process. This person will also work with our accounts payables, receivables and cash management personnel and activities, thus maintaining operational data and ensuring data integrity, data accuracy, and timely accounting and finance services while complying with all legislative and corporate requirements. This person will be a key contributor in a high-energy growth environment and participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance existing systems and processes and drive efficiency improvements in our monthly close in a rapidly changing and growing company.
The Accounting Manager will report to the VP of Finance and Administration.
Responsibilities will include:
• 100% of the general ledger activity, month end close functions and account reconciliations
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Enhance and oversee control systems, transaction processing operations, and policies and procedures
• Work with a staff and other team members to ensure that accounts payable are processed correctly and in the queue to be paid in a timely manner
• Work with a staff and other team members to ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly and deductions are followed-up on and resolved in a timely manner.
• Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are complete
• Work with the VP of Finance to consolidate, create and issue timely and accurate financial and operating statements to management and members of the Board.
• Assist as needed with certain human resources and payroll activities
• Assist with the production of the annual budget and forecasts
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
• Assist in creating reports for board of directors and private equity partners
• Assist in managing cash in interest bearing instruments
• Special projects, research activities and other duties as assigned by the VP of Finance
Education and Experience Requirements:
• BA/BS in Accounting or Finance with an emphasis in Accounting required
• MBA and/or CPA would be given strong preference
• Minimum 5 years experience required in accounting supervisory role (retail or manufacturing environment preferred)
• Prior work experience as a senior associate level in any public accounting firm preferred
• Solid technical knowledge of GAAP and ability to research and document complex accounting transactions required.
• Demonstrated ability to make solid, objective, ethical decisions
• Ability to understand and carry out direction quickly and with minimal supervision
• Must be detail oriented
• Demonstrated willingness to continuously learn and adapt to changes
• Excellent verbal and written communication and analysis skills required
• Strong computer skills including financial spreadsheets and accounting software;
• Work collaboratively in a diverse environment with all levels of employees
