Accounting Manager

Overall responsibility for supervision of accounting responsibilities at the local bakery accounting office. Includes responsibility for all accounting activities, i.e., Accounts Receivables, Route Retail Accounting, and any additional accounting functions at the local level. Responsible for performing all general accounting activities in an accurate and timely manner. Supervise all accounting positions. Responsible for internal controls and policies. Review selected journal entries for consistency. Identify and ensure implementation of process and system enhancements to continuously improve operations in the local accounting office. Interface with Shared Services process owners to ensure compliance with cross-team accountabilities. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, policies and procedures Operating Level Agreements. Coordinate with corporate accounting the monthly and year-end close process, including all necessary journal entries, account reconciliation, and variance analysis. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of accounting financial reports. Monitor closing procedures to ensure accordance with procedures. Monitor outstanding financial transactions and required approval requests. Assist in the resolution of GA, AP, and AR outstanding issues and problems. Investigate and resolve transaction exceptions. Supervise local account reconciliations. Monitor and refine performance goals and objectives of accounting staff. Provide coaching and assistance of team members on complex accounting processing or exception handling as needed. Effectively perform without supervision. Work with accounting staff to resolve high-level issues that arise. Recognize and communicate potential issues / risks to Operational Controls Manager. Accounting Policy and Key Accounting Processes - 5+ years in a middle/senior. Management position, preferably as an Asst. Controller or Controller. Project Management - Capable of directing and managing the implementation of new business development and improvement initiatives that integrate new strategies, processes, and people elements to improve operating results. Finance and Finance Best Practices - Knowledge of finance processes is required. Continuous Process Improvement - ability to identify process improvements and implement solutions. Must have a degree with major in accounting, business management, or finance; or equivalent 5+ years.
