Accounting Policy Manager

Full Job Description

An important member of a small central technical team that is responsible for the maintenance and development of Group accounting policy. In particular the Associate Director of Accounting Policy will take a lead role in ensuring that:

- The bank`sviews on new accounting issues are developed internally and communicated to professional and industry bodies, accounting standard setters, regulators and government.
- Advice and support is provided to help ensure that all aspects of accounting policy can be adhered to.
- There is sufficient awareness and understanding by Finance and the wider financial community of existing accounting policies and new developments that affect current reporting or will affect future reporting.
- Senior management understand the implications of accounting policies, changes to accounting policies (and, where relevant, key US GAAP differences) so that they can communicate effectively with the investor community.
- Accounting policies are developed and documented in response to new and revised accounting standards and other new statutory reporting provision, that these requirements are understood by the Group as required and that support is provided for implementation by the businesses and central finance.
- Statutory and other shareholder reporting meets the legal, listing rules and accounting requirements in so far as presentation and disclosure are concerned and to provide assistance to Investor Rela

KNOWLEDGE
Essential

 Strong financial background with PLC experience
 Track record in delivering to tight deadlines under pressure
 Understanding of banking products and business and also capital requirements
 Knowledge, including an up to date understanding of the latest developments in International Financial Reporting Standards and appreciation of US GAAP. Understanding of other international and EU developments affecting accounting
 Understanding of implications of SEC registration
 Understanding of a Bank`s current accounting policies, practices and financial statements.

EXPERIENCE
Essential

 Professionally qualified accountant with post qualification experience in practice or industry, preferably gained in the financial services sector either from within the industry or as auditor
 Knowledgeable about financial reporting issues, demonstrated by: experienced gained in the technical departments of major firms or large and complex organisations
 Role holder will be expected to be accountable for:
-Health and safety
-Performance development
-Fraud-illegal practices including Sarbanes Oxley s302, 404 906
-Compliance with board governance standards for Financial Reporting, Taxation and Budgeting

Investment and Retail Banking organisation based in Canary Wharf requires Accounting Policy Manager to join them in Canary Wharf. Must be Policy led experience or outstanding IFRS 10, 12, lobbying - this could have come from Big4 Financial Services

- Base salary from £55,000 to £70,000 for the right candidates
