Accounting Specialist – Controllers Office NJ to $110K

Prestigious International Financial Firm is seeking an Accounting Specialist to assist Dept Head in reporting Japanese GAAP, Accounting Control of NY Branch, Financial Regulatory Reporting to US Regulatory Agencies, Accounting Guidance (both US and Japanese GAAP).
Required Background:
- At least 10 years accounting experience in financial institutions (foreign bank preferred) or public accounting experience in financial institution or major CPA firm.
- CPA required with technical accounting background; MBA preferred
- Knowledge of banking accounting standards under Japanese GAAP (JICPA)
- Good knowledge of banking accounting standards under US GAAP, especially the following:
- FAS 115
- FAS 133
- FAS 138
- FAS 52
- FAS 114
- FAS 91
- FAS 125
- FAS 157
- FIN 46
- FIN 48
- Knowledge of bank’s internal accounting control concepts and JSOX compliance.
- Good knowledge of FED Regulation D
- NY State Superintendent’s Regulation Part 322 and general banking regulatory requirement
- Good knowledge of local regulatory reporting requirements for foreign bank including Federal Reserve Bank NY State Banking, Treasury Dept Bank of Japan, Ministry of Finance, etc
- Good product knowledge of derivatives (interest rate swap, currency swaps, FX contracts, forward rate contracts, interest rate options, credit derivatives)
- Good knowledge of deposits and credit products (loan syndication, loan participation, loan securitization, trade finance activities, letters of credit, etc)
- Knowledge in system applications in accounting, especially Oracle General Ledgers
- MS Office (Excel/Access/Word)
- Good database management skills
- Good financial analytical skills
- Good oral and written communication skills and good problem solving skills
- Japanese language skills preferred
