Position Description

 

General Responsibilities:

 

1.     Maintain and monitor each transactional based area of the accounting system including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

 

2.     Assist the VP of Finance with the monthly close process.

 

3.     Develop and maintain the purchasing and fixed asset systems, including the tracking of all fixed assets.

 

4.     Administer the contract management system which feeds into the billing system.

 

5.     Assist with all tax filings, as well as assist outside accountants with information requests.

 

6.     Assist with special projects as directed by the VP of Finance, including budgets and forecasts, cost accounting, standard cost updates, commission tracking.

 

7.     Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

 

Typical Activities:

 

1.     Ensure that all A/P is coded, approved, and entered in a timely manner.

 

2.     Work closely with other departments to make sure that all customers are being billed correctly, and timely.  This includes contract based monthly recurring as well as all consulting invoices

 

3.     Maintain the contract database by verifying all information against service orders, which will allow for the timely billing of customers.  Verify all billing for accuracy before sending to the customers.

 

 

4.     Assist with the processing of A/R, including billing customers accurately, responding to questions and issues, and ensuring that customers are paying timely.

 

5.     As part of the monthly close process, reconciling all balance sheet accounts.  This will include all bank reconciliations, accruals, and prepaid accounts.

 

6.     Assist with the monthly financial reporting package, including report writing, trend analysis, and variance analysis.

 

 

Pre-Requisites:

 

1.     0-2 years experience within a hands-on accounting environment.  

 

2.     Degree in accounting or Business related field not required.

 

3.     Must have a thorough understanding of financial and operational accounting principles and methods

 

4.     Strong analytical skills, as well as demonstrated spreadsheet experienced is preferred.  Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite, Word, and Excel are a must. Strong accounting software skills are required.  Familiarity with Quickbooks and Great Plains would be a plus.

 

5.     Must have a strong desire for achievement, and be an excellent team player.

 

6.     Must be a self-directed individual who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment.  Must be high energy and hands-on.

 

7.     Must have excellent personal organizational skills, and possess the ability to direct the flow of multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.

 

8.     Strong written and oral communication skills and a real command presence are mandatory.

 

 

Reporting Relationship:

 

  Reports to the VP of Finance.

 

 

Compensation:

 

1.     Salary commensurate with experience
