Accounts Assistant Job in Oxford, Home Counties UK
This is a superb opportunity to join a friendly and loyal team working within a key finance function for a well-respected company in Central Oxford.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and a strong background within an accounts department.
Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate and up to date records for all fees and charges
• Process all invoices relating to fees and charges
• Process and reconcile credit card payments relating to fees and charges
• Process grant payments and liaise with customers about any queries
• Provide fee reports both at month end and at year end
• Investigate and respond promptly to queries relating to fees charged
• Process staff expenses through the accounting system
• Maintaining an accurate an up to date sales ledger
• Processing all invoices on a daily basis
• Ensure that related cheque and bacs payments are reconciled on a daily basis
• Ensure that cash and cheques are banked daily and that credit card payments are processed accurately and promptly
• Ensure that amounts owed are invoiced accurately and promptly
• Maintain accurate debtor details on the finance system
• Produce reconciliations and reports as required
• Responsible for producing statements, chasing debts and providing aged debts information to the Financial Controller
• Responsible for ensuring that VAT charged on sales is correct and in line with guidelines
• Producing sales ledger reports as required at both month end and year end.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to sales ledger activity as required
• Responsible for covering the purchase ledger function (working with the Assistant Accountant) in the absence of other staff.
Qualities and Experience
• At least 2-3 years experience in a similar role
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office applications particularly MS Word and MS Excel
• Experience and understanding of double entry book keeping software
• Knowledge of output VAT
• Good self-organisation and time-management skills.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure
• Strong communication and inter-personal skills in particular responding sensitively to queries and dealing with customers
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Focus on continuous improvement
