Role Synopsis
The Accounts Opening Analyst will be responsible for completing the appropriate AML due diligence and related checks on all Counterparties, Vessels, Agents and Brokers with whom Shipping transacts. The ideal candidate would have strong investigative skills, a background and understanding of the trading industry, the ability to collaborate with others and prior compliance or risk experience. This role reports to the Accounts Opening Team Leader.
Key Accountabilities
- day-to-day account opening including undertaking counterparty research, having direct contact with counterparties and assisting the Front Office in pulling together KYB information to support their counterparty requests;
- investigate and authorize third-party beneficiaries;
- monitor for fixtures with unauthorized counterparties;
- conduct ongoing counterparty file reviews;
- review and apply adverse media to existing counterparty files;
- prepare escalations for review by AOM, Legal and CFO (CEL);
- provide support for periodic audits regarding AOT process reviews;
- provide counterparty specific sanctions advice (where appropriate);
- input to Account Opening policy/procedures;
- ad hoc project work
Essential criteria qualifications
-Excellent knowledge of US OFAC and Anti-Money Laundering regulation;
-Sound AML/KYC experience; -Excellent attention to detail;
-Experience in communicating with individuals at various levels within the organization;
-Resourcefulness and ability to research and pick up on key AML red flags;
-Ability to work quickly, but effectively when under pressure and be able to respond to business needs in a compliant manner.
Desirable criteria qualifications
-AML qualifications desirable, although not essential;
-Ability to work autonomously, whilst being a strong team player;
-Understanding of corporate structures in general and the ability to research non-US corporations.
