Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist (Calgary)
Position Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of payables and receivables including performing a variety of confidential administrative and clerical duties. This position reports to the Controller.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Accounts Payable
· Set-up and maintain vendor accounts in the ERP system
· Prepare and process cheque runs and electronic payments
· Review and update purchase orders
· Reconcile vendor payments
· Resolve invoice discrepancies
· Balance and code expense reports
· Complete credit applications for new vendors
· Maintain, manage and reconcile petty cash
· Prepare vendor reports and other analyses as required
Accounts Receivable
· Collect accounts receivable balances in a timely manner, primarily through phone and email communication
· Process incoming payments
· Set-up and maintain customer account in the ERP system
· Perform credit management duties including:
i. Process incoming credit applications
ii. Conduct credit research on both potential and existing customers
iii. Complete and analyze credit references
iv. Recommend credit terms and obtain approvals from management
v. Monitor credit risk of existing customers
· Interact directly with customers to resolve collection and credit issues
General
· Maintain accounting files
· Develop a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and on-going communication with Management, sales team and customer service
· Complies with and participates in the continuous improvement of the Company’s Health Safety programs, Quality Systems, and lean enterprise initiatives
Qualifications:
Education
- Post secondary training in bookkeeping, credit management and general accounting course is preferred
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years experience
- Experience working in a professional and confidential capacity
- In depth knowledge of MS Office Suite, Lotus Notes, and ERP Software (preferably Navision).
