Overview:
As an Acoustic Engineer, you’ll work in dedicated noise facilities and with state-of-the-art equipment and sophisticated information handling systems that make our acoustic laboratories among the best in the world. In this position, you’ll play a key role in conducting acoustic analyses to evaluate conformance with noise requirements for flight vehicles. Your duties could range from overseeing the design of basic structural, airframe, nacelle and component elements of flight vehicles to ensure compliance with noise regulations, specs and guarantees, to developing new and enhanced tools and processes and determining strategic direction relevant to verification and test functions.
Sample Responsibilities, Based on Experience:
- Assists with the definition of basic test programs for research in acoustics and applies acoustic analytical techniques in order to determine suppression system program results and adequacy to meet regulatory/specified noise requirements.
- Predicts noise levels/environments for flight vehicle designs and scenarios using established tools.
- Sets strategic direction to develop new and innovative analysis methodologies and leads analyses of complex and/or advanced vehicle design configurations for which established tools and noise control concepts may not apply.
- Works with regulatory agencies, airlines, airports and other aerospace industry groups to develop new noise standards.
Qualifications:
§ Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
§ ABET is preferred, although not required.
§ Master’s degree or PhD with related experience is required for more senior levels.
