Acting Head of Front Office Operations recruitment

Opportunity:
We are looking to recruit a bright, confident and organised individual to lead the team responsible for the day to day operations for the Fixed Income Business. The successful candidate will work closely with the Fixed Income Business units and investment professionals to ensure that the business runs smoothly and will act as the main point of contact in MG for Fixed Income Operations

This is a 9 month secondment opportunity.

Key responsibilities
Team Leadership :
- Manage and develop a team of individuals (currently there are five members including an investment FMA).
- Provide a leadership role for the Fixed Income Credit FMAs (chairing meetings and acting as a point of escalation for issues of concern (the FMAs report directly to specific investment desks).

Relationship management :
- Act as an intermediary between the Fixed Income Front Office and other internal departments within MG (including Investment Operations, Compliance, Audit, Legal etc.).
- Manage key external relationships, including third party administrators, auditors and lawyers.

Fair Value :
- Represent the Fixed Income Business at the Fair Value Committee (including ensuring required documentation is completed accurately and on time).

Problem solving :
- Resolve queries / issues on behalf of investment professionals.
- Attend and contribute to various meetings including regular Fixed Income Desk Heads, Dealing meetings and ad hoc project meetings.

Change management :
- Represent the Front Office Operations team on new projects / initiatives. Ensure that as the Business develops, operational processes are put in place.
- Co-ordinate the implementation of operational change projects (e.g. business process reviews, new business unit procedures).

What we are looking for

- Knowledge of Fixed Income Business and relevant asset classes (or willingness to learn)
- Numerate, logical and analytical approach
- High level of accuracy, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels
- Highly motivated, resilient and driven individual who is able to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Good time management and problem solving skills
- Ability to build strong relationship across the Business and external parties
- Experience of managing, developing and motivating a team
