You will use your actuarial and statistical expertise to provide technical advice to achieve the goals of the business unit and to meet regulatory requirements.
The team covers the actuarial work for both short tail (commercial property, commercial motor, natural perils etc) and long tail products (public and product liability, professional indemnity etc).
Work is quite varied and encompasses the following:
Valuation
Pricing
Profitability assessment
Budgeting/forecasting advice
The stakeholders/partners include the business/product areas, finance, corporate actuarial, and claims.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of key data sources and the ability to manipulate these for analysis.
- Proficiency in certain actuarial and/or statistical models to analyse and provide insights which solve core business problems.
- Quality focus to ensure consistent results.
- Ability to improve key analytical processes.
Key Competencies
- Ability to organise own work efficiently to meet deadlines
- Capability to provide technical guidance and lead junior staff
- Contribution to positive morale of team
- Strong written and verbal communication
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in a mathematical/statistical subject etc. Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering etc.
- At least 2 years previous relevant work experience
