ACTUARIAL ASSISTANT (temp) recruitment
Description:
To provide a high quality actuarial service for a range of Occupational Pension Schemes in accordance with agreed service standards and legislative guidelines. All work must be carried out in accordance with the actuarial profession’s guidance notes and agreed company procedures.
Working closely with and supporting a Scheme Actuary, provide actuarial funding valuations and reports for pension scheme Trustees and sponsoring Employers.
Assist with development of less experienced staff, giving direction and guidance on daily workload, checking results and providing feedback to Section Manager and Process and Quality unit.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide actuarial valuations and discussion documents for trustees and sponsoring employers of defined benefit pension schemes on bases appropriate for the specified purpose of the valuation within timescales agreed with the client and Scheme Actuary which, if applicable, meet legislative deadlines.
- Actively coach and mentor less experienced members of staff, acting as a point of reference for day to day tasks and activities, check accuracy of output produced and provide feedback to Section Managers or Business Analysts.
- Provide actuarial valuations for schemes entering the Pension Protection Fund on bases appropriate for that purpose ensuring agreed service standards and quality standards are met or exceeded.
- Produce appropriate certificates, valuation reports and discussion documents for sign-off by Scheme Actuaries within timescales acceptable to the Scheme Actuary and client which, if applicable, meet regulatory deadlines.
- Prepare complex member and pensioner data provided from administration systems into format appropriate for input into Superval valuation system.
- Using technical knowledge and expertise provide detailed responses to questions from clients concerning reports and actuarial discussion documents.
- Assist with delivering training to less experienced staff and assess the learning outcome during post delivery support.
- Participate in department initiatives to make recommendations and improve business processes. Increase system functionality, improve efficiencies and minimise / negate the risks in existing processes, ensuring compliance with legislation and audit requirements.
