Actuarial Head (Life) recruitment
Leading Insurer with a solid reputation across the region, who provide a comprehensive range of life, medical and general insurance products, retirement schemes and MPF products to corporate and individual customers, is seeking an seasoned actuary to head-up their specialist life team. With a dual reporting line to the business Head Chief Actuary this role is focused to lead the Life Profit Centre in activities related to actuarial, risk management, finance, investments and product management/pricing.
As an experienced actuary this role will involve leading the actuarial, product development and financial risk management functions. This will involve managing the life insurance portfolio with a high professional integrity and in compliance with the Group's standards. This role will also provide advice to department on all financial and (life) product issues providing recommendations with sound logic, balancing the development's strategic goals within the group's financial and risk parameters.
Responsibilities -
- Product Development and Management - lead on-going product development, design, pricing, profit testing, management and capital assessment to ensure the group's risk appetite and financial targets are delivered
- Business Development - support regional expansion across Asia-Pacific and development of new channels within existing entities
- Financial Risk Management - in managing the financial risks of the business, consider and balance carefully the group's risk appetite, the business context, the company's strategic directions, the customers' expectations, and the return to shareholders
- Insurance risk management - work closely with the each manufacturing entities to ensure experience of the portfolio is closely monitored and appropriate reinsurance program is put in place to manage the claim volatility
Experience/Skills Required -
- Degree holder in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant disciplines
- Over 10 years of experience in actuarial, insurance finance or investment field, including solid understanding of actuarial and business reality
- Proven ability to operate within a complex matrix management environment, be able to manage, balance priorities and delivery to the differing requirements of key stakeholders and other support teams
- High levels of drive, initiative and business acumen with strong consultative, influencing, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Proven ability to understand complex and/or new issues, manage conflict and provide pragmatic solutions while striking the right balance between operational risk and business results
- Must be forward-thinking, maintain awareness of business, regulatory and market issues; identify where changes are required to current policies and procedures
- An effective communicator with the ability to successfully develop and maintain collaborative working relationships, internally/externally and at all levels
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
