Actuary - Model Architect

This position will support the implementation of PBR (Principle Based Reserving) and C3P3 for UL (Universal Life), ULSG (Universal Life Secondary Guarantee) and VUL (Variable Universal Life) product lines. This person will be a model steward for asset/liability models T11 PBR and C3P3 models and will coordinate a team responsible for developing and running models and analyzing risks and results. This person will also partner closely with areas outside of valuation, such as the ALM (Asset Liability Management) team and the MIAME IT team. Principal Responsibilities: bull; Design model structure. Originate and review designs for each product model and all assumptions. Define model coding standards. Use previous coding experience, in-depth knowledge of MoSes platform, and strong actuarial and programming judgment to make sound implementation decisions. Develop appropriate model coding standards and work with modelers to recommend appropriate coding. Review all coding. Set up regression and testing requirements for all modelers. Ensure that final model meets all coding and testing standards. Ensure that all coding standards meet MIAME governance requirements. Fully document and control all models being developed for PBR and C3P3. bull; Coordinate modeler(s) activities, including coding, compliance with standards, runs, and testing. bull; Develop, enhance, and maintain working asset/liability models to be used for PBR and C3P3. bull; Develop an appropriate and efficient framework for model input, output, and reports. Collaborate with the MIAME IT team to implement data in the MIAME platform. bull; Work with peers in the ALM area to establish "best practices" for all assumptions, inputs, outputs, and reports, especially for models within MIAME. bull; Research, analyze and document new developments for PBR and C3P3. Provide input to industry groups and regulatory officials. Ensure that models meet all regulatory requirements (current and proposed). bull; Analyze next generation software, and prepare recommendations for transition strategies, when appropriate. Job Requirements bull; Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science bull; FSA with 7 - 10 years of experience bull; Advanced modeling and programming skills, particularly MoSes is required bull; Valuation and Financial Reporting experience bull; Advanced knowledge in asset/liability modeling, financial projections, design and maintenance of actuarial models bull; Advanced knowledge of life products, particularly ULSG products bull; Strong team management skills bull; Strong project management skills bull; Strong verbal and written communication skills bull; Knowledge of some programming language, such as C++ or Visual Basic is a "plus" bull; Able to work with minimal supervision bull; Able to work build partnerships and foster teamwork Equal Employment Opportunity MetLife is proud to be an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
