THE ROLE
To support the London team in the origination and execution of project finance and infrastructure transactions consistent with the Bank’s ongoing strategy. The role will cover all aspects of the product line from advisory, debt arranging and project bonds across the sectors that the bank is active in, i.e. infrastructure, power and renewables, natural resources and offshore and telecoms.
The main duties of the jobholder include:
1) Responding to requests and preparation of indicative offers and/or pitches for advisory, arranging and project bond mandates;
2) Analysis of credit risk in lending opportunities and preparation of credit applications;
3) Taking responsible client facing roles in on advisory assignments, execution of transactions and client negotiations;
4) Financial modelling in support of advisory mandates and where necessary on transactions;
5) Undertaking necessary due diligence on deals, in particular, reviews of legal documentation;
6) Supporting business development of the London desk;
7) Liaising with other relevant parts of the bank where appropriate i.e. syndicate, risk dept, middle office, etc.); and
8) Undertaking any specific project or front-offices duties as required.
THE CANDIDATE
Typically a graduate with at least 4-5 years relevant experience possessing the following attributes:
- Lead arranging transaction experience including negotiation of terms and conditions of project financing structures, managing the credit approval process, liaison with and management of due diligence advisors, negotiation of project and finance documentation;
- Financial advisory experience with good financial modelling capability with experience of building financial models from scratch and managing models for project finance transactions;
- Strong communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation. Good reporting writing and pitch preparation skills essential;
- Strong credit analysis skills and formal credit training;
- Effective management of the transaction process;
- Adaptability and flexibility;
- Ability to frequently work within strict time constraints;
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment;
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and motivate junior staff; and
- Fluency in the German language would be a plus.
