AD/Director – Portfolio Management
The primary role of the Director/Associate Director - Infrastructure Debt - Asset / Portfolio Management is to provide strong asset and portfolio management oversight and monitoring of the global infrastructure debt portfolio. The role is to work closely with the Regional Directors and staff to ensure the investor’s assets are acquired and monitored to the highest standard.
As a key member of the Infrastructure Debt Team the role will contribute across all facets of the business and where appropriate the fund’s operations (except where governance restricts that input).
Within Infrastructure Debt Team
The role requires an independence of thought and action to the remainder of the team to ensure the best risk adjusted outcomes are achieved for investors. The activities include the following:-
- Periodic credit reviews and process
- Ongoing review of portfolio structures and strategy
- Development and maintenance of pricing and relative value
- Developing and maintaining expertise of global sectors
- Expertise of Basel III Solvency II and other relevant regulatory frameworks
- Thought leadership – eg one paper a year
- Training / feedback on new credits – constant improvement on credits and processes including IC feedback
- Execution / allocation of issuer requests eg waivers etc – including delegation decision ie COO of fund, Executive Director or IC approvals including management of hindsight reviews
- Responsible for consistency of credit approach applied globally
- Responsible for managing stressed assets
- Build relationships with peers and others across the broader business and geographies
- Volunteer for activities/projects as appropriate
- Attend broader communication activities / appropriate off sites presentations by the CEO etc
- Represent the Debt Team on appropriate Committees such as the risk and compliance committee / investment committees etc
Business Development
This will be provided by demonstration of industry expertise across all facets of the Infrastructure Debt market including the theoretical and practical application of portfolio theory and risk assessment and relative value. In addition the role will be responsible for contributing thought leadership in risk assessment and communicate that to our investors and staff to enhance the value of the fund’s service. It will also be a requirement to establish and manage relationships with Global risk experts and practitioners;
Origination and Execution
Have responsibility for being the devil’s advocate for the research and analysis (including review of due diligence material and financing documentation) of potential Infrastructure debt investment opportunities undertaken by the debt team; and overall responsibility for the quality management of the preparation and presentation of investment proposals to the fund’s Investment Committee.
Asset Management
Have responsibility for the management of the monitoring and reporting of current and future global infrastructure debt investments.
Work together with the regional Directors to ensure the quality of asset management is achieved in a consistent and rigorous manner across the business.
Have overall global responsibility for the allocation of duties to overview and action to ensure:-
- Ongoing review of financial and operating performance including meetings with management and liaising with the agent, lenders counsel, and wider lender group.
- Periodic formal credit review of each transaction including ongoing assessment of value and compliance with investment mandates.
- Evaluate waivers, consent requests, divestment proposals and other investment and sector specific issues
- Coordinate internally and externally to ensure an efficient and transparent execution of these responsibilities including preparation of IC papers, liaising with clients/fund boards, contributing to portfolio credit reviews, contributing to client/fund updates and preparation of investor material.
- Monitor investments through the review of periodic reporting, industry developments and peer entity reporting and corporate actions
- Prepare reporting on assets for the fund’s internal purposes and external clients
Portfolio Management Strategy
- Ongoing review of portfolio structures and consistency of new investments with agreed portfolio guidelines.
- Remain informed of key risks and opportunities facing the sector and business and share learnings with the remainder of the team.
- Development and maintenance of pricing and relative value tools
- Thought leadership – eg one paper a year
People Leadership
- Provide leadership, mentoring and development to junior members of the team in the relevant discipline of asset management and portfolio management
- Provide input into setting individual targets and objectives for the team including development plans for the relevant junior staff
- Prepare a personal development plan and undertake the agreed activities during the plan year
Credit and infrastructure market knowledge
- Responsible for tracking key risk trends and delivering thought pieces on global risk trends
- Keep informed of key developments in the infrastructure and credit markets and ensure dissemination of information to the wider team.
- Attend seminars and other training to supplement knowledge as required
