Student Life Administrative Assistant

The Student Life Administrative Assistant serves as the receptionist in the Student Life/Student Services area. Duties include responding to phone, email and in-person requests,  and directing and follow-up on inquiries and information between the Student Life Office, Student Support Services Offices and students.  Provides clerical support to Student Life, prepares correspondence and reports, files documents, assists with mailings, coordinates event sign-ups, collects student/alumni work for various shows, coordinates campus postings, and operates copy and fax machines.  This position has regular contact with students, parents, faculty, administration and community members. 

Successful candidates will be able to complete job duties, projects, and assignments with general supervision; possess a high level of interpersonal and human relations skills; ability to interact appropriately with a wide variety of personality types, maintain composure under pressure from multiple demands and critical situations, communicate effectively both orally and in writing using proper English grammar; possess excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks at once, and have knowledge of modern office practices, policies and procedures including typing, filing, copying, and telephone etiquette; and the ability to work regular established hours of operation and additional hours as business necessitates.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       High school diploma  

·       Two years of experience in an office environment or equivalent

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including word processing, automated spreadsheets, e-mail, and data entry  

·        Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience in college environment and some college education desirable  

·        Familiarity with both Macintosh and PC  

·        Knowledge of Adobe Software ( InDesign, Illustrator, Photo Shop)  

·       Knowledge of and ability to use social media technologies
