About the Job
Looking for an individual to directly plan and manage the comprehensive affairs of the Department of Medicine for a leading institution in New York City.
- Serve as a strategic partner with the Chair and other senior faculty and staff in the planning and implementation of policies, programs, and initiatives that support the primary mission areas of the department (education, research, clinical and community outreach).
- Oversee the faculty practice of physicians, including process improvement, patient satisfaction and revenue cycle enhancement.
- Oversee the financial management of 12 divisions and service with the department; responsible for managing revenue, expenses and other budgeted targets to ensure the meeting of operating goals.
- Identify opportunities for enhancement of existing operational models and the development of new and innovative programmatic and operational models for potential departmental application.
- Oversee all faculty recruitment, including business plans, forecasts, and resource allocation.
- Assist faculty with program start-up, including cost benefit analysis, budget projections, assigning of organization structure, planning for space, reservations and program initiation.
- Oversee and administer all faculty affairs for the department, including promotion and tenure issues, disciplinary issues and human resources matters. Manage compensation and other benefit issues for faculty.
- Responsible for Department research enterprise including grants management, clinical research compliance, and oversight of core facilities.
- Responsible for space assessment and allocation. Responsible for research density, utilization and renovation plans for research space.
- Directing and coordinating administrative personnel to assigned tasks and projects
- Hires, trains, supervises, and mentors department office staff, utilizing their abilities by delegating effectively. Provides staff with growth opportunities, professional training, and the tools required to work effectively.
- Serves on Institution committees where administrative policies and issues are discussed and recommendations are made. Meets regularly with senior administrative staff and serves as the interface between the department and the administrative structure of the Institution; represents the department's concerns and position on issues to administrative units and represents Administration's concerns to the department.

Qualified candidates have a Master's degree in Business Administration (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and at least 6 - 7 years of experience in a supervisory role.
Prior Experience in academic medicine is required.
