Main purpose of role
The team is responsible for confirming Foreign Exchange (FX) trades with market counterparties, issue of settlement instructions to custodians, recording of the trades onto the accounting system (HiPort) and the investigation and resolution of queries/reconciliation break items for FX trades.
This involves liaising with clients, FX counterparties (brokers) and custodians via email and phone. There is also significant interaction with internal teams including STP Static, Transitions, Position Keeping, Claims and Client Service Managers (CSMs).
The team deals with spot FX, forward FX and non-deliverable forwards (NDFs).
The team operates within various client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and has 7 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The primary system used for trade capture, matching and settlement is Tradeflow. Other systems used on a daily basis include HiPort and CARS/TIPS.
Key responsibilities/principal accountabilities
- Confirmation of all FX product types with market counterparties, resolving any discrepancies with the counterparty or client.
- Ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded in the accounting system (HiPort).
- Issuing settlement instructions to custodians.
- Calculating net payments and issuing settlement instructions for NDFs.
- Investigation and resolution of all client reconciliation breaks assigned to the team.
- Issuing various reports to clients.
- Assisting with system/process testing as required.
- Ensuring all incidents are reported on the company compliance system (IRIS) in a timely manner.
- Completion of adhoc tasks and project work as assigned by manager.
Qualifications required
While not a pre-requisite, experience of the following would be beneficial:
- FX confirmation and settlement
- Knowledge of SWIFT message types relating to FX confirmation and settlement
- Investigation of FX failed trades
- Tradeflow, HiPort and/or CARS/TIPS
