HEART FAILURE, HEART TRANSPLANT, AND MECHANICAL CIRCULATORY DEVICE COORDINATOR

(NURSE PRACTITIONER/ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE)

Rush University Medical Center is a tertiary-care academic medical center located in Chicago's West Loop. The 676-bed hospital complex is recognized as one of the nation's top specialty referral hospitals by US World and News Report and is ranked 25th in the nation for heart and heart surgery. Rush Nursing has received for three consecutive terms the distinguished Magnet® Recognition for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center. RUMC is currently constructing a 14-floor, 841,000-square-foot hospital. The new hospital is scheduled to open in 2012 and is the centerpiece of a $1 billion, 10-year campus redevelopment plan called the Rush Transformation.

The APN/NP coordinator collaborates with transplant cardiologists; evaluates, assesses, educates, provides long-term care and follow-up to patients who are being evaluated for cardiac transplant and/or mechanical circulatory support, listed cardiac transplant candidates awaiting a suitable donor, and cardiac transplant recipients; and coordinates cardiac donor procurement.

Must have APN or NP Illinois license, 3 years' experience in nursing, extensive background in the care of cardiac patients, and at least one year of experience providing direct patient care for advanced heart failure, heart transplant, and/or mechanical circulatory support devices. CCTC, CPTC or CCTN is preferred.
