AEGIS Fire Control System Technician Job in Norfolk 23511, Virginia Us

This position is located in our VA, Norfolk facility

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide onsite technical support for shipboard AEGIS Fire Control System MK99, Operational Test System MK-1, and MK84 60/400 Hertz Power Converters equipment. Technical support includes identification and resolution of all system faults and anomalies associated with installation, operation, maintenance, and connectivity problems in shipboard AEGIS Fire Control Systems equipment and subsystems.

2. Provide onboard maintenance training to ship's force technicians in the operation, repair, maintenance, and logistics support of the above listed systems.

3. Perform functional checks and program review support for shipboard AEGIS Fire Control Systems.

1. In-depth knowledge and hands on experience with shipboard AEGIS Fire Control System MK99 and Operational Test System MK-1 equipment including all subsystems. In-depth knowledge and experience with the MK84 60/400 Hertz Power Converters and all related equipment. Attainment of the related U.S. Navy NECs is preferred.

2. High School Diploma or GED, plus technical/vocational/military training.

3. Associates Degree preferred.

4. NAVSEA certified for copper and Fiber Optic connectors is a plus.

General Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years full-time hands-on technical experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair of electrical/electronic systems/equipment incorporated in Combat or C4I Systems.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Minimum of eight (8) years hands on experience with the specific AEGIS Fire Control Systems/equipment identified above including troubleshooting, repair, and assessments.

2. Special electronic repair skill abilities or certifications such as basic/advanced soldering, wire-wrap, and/or connectorization.

3. Experience gained at a MOTU, FTSC, RMC, or OEM is not required, but is a plus.

4. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the fabrication, testing, and modification of electronics components.

5. Comprehensive knowledge of an ability to use the related tools, equipment, and systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Some portions of the work is typically performed in an industrial, shipboard, or shipyard environment, which requires proper safety precautions. The work requires moderate physical effort in the handling of materials, tools, cables, and other equipment. Must be able to carry up to 50 pound loads.

Must be able to obtain / maintain a contractor's badge and secret clearance. Valid driver's license is required.
