Agri-Business Trade Relationship Manager
Wells Fargo is the largest agribusiness lender in the US, and agricultural products are one of the fastest growing export items in the last five years. Total agricultural trade with Asia is nearly $30 billion a year, and China alone accounts for more than half that total. Wells Fargo is seeking to build expertise in the global trade of agricultural goods and has launched a new initiative dedicated to this goal. The initiative comprises a unit that will consist of officers in the US and selected overseas markets whose mission will be to become the industry leaders in global agricultural trade. This Agribusiness Trade Unit (ATU) is seeking to hire an experienced Vice President level agricultural trade relationship manager for the United States. The US Ag Trade RM (ATRM) will be expected to work closely with Global Banking Consultants, Trade Services Relationship Managers (TSRMs), and other partner groups (e.g., Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking) to call on US companies exporting agricultural goods in an effort to win more business for Wells Fargo. The ATRM will sell credit and non-credit services with the overall goal being to expand Wells Fargo's market share of this business. The sales efforts will be coordinated with ATU officers in overseas offices (initially, Asia), as well as with Wells Fargo relationship managers in the US responsible for the corporate relationships. Position Responsibilities Essential Functions -- Business Development (90%) - Expand Wells Fargo's share of agricultural trade. With an initial focus on US exports to Asia, work in close coordination with Asian counterparts to identify trade flows. Develop a business strategy to capture a larger share of these trade flows, using the full range of credit and non-credit Wells Fargo products, including credit lines, US government programs (GSM102, USEXIM), documentary processing, FX, and derivatives. Develop strong working relationships with the units within Wells Fargo that deliver these products. - In conjunction with the US relationship management team, initiate a calling program on US agribusiness companies. - Actively travel in the region calling on external clients, making internal/external presentations and representing Wells Fargo at industry conferences. -- Risk Management/Compliance (10%) - Work with the Line, Risk Management, Legal, International Operations and Compliance as necessary to ensure compliance with all programs being utilized in the region. Note: Preferred locations for this role are either San Francisco CA, or Chicago IL. However, other US locations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Basic Qualifications: 5+ years relationship management experience. Minimum Qualifications: Experience in structuring, documenting and closing sales on mid-market commercial credit and cash management solutions. Complex negotiation. Credit and risk analysis experience. - 10+ years of international trade finance experience with a record of having successfully closed trade finance transactions. - Strong knowledge of trade finance products, including letters of credit, acceptances, forfait, structured trade products (GSM102, USEXIM Bulk Ag Policy Working Capital Guarantee programs), USDA ag trade development initiatives. - Strong understanding of international credit and International Financial Institutions country risk and credit underwriting practices and policies - Strong agricultural industry experience - Highly motivated self-starter with a history of success in new business development - Proven ability to produce results in a team environment - Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new skill sets - Excellent communication and organizational skills - Understanding of international trade operations, including document processes and control procedures. - Computer proficiency: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SalesForce (helpful) Wells Fargo is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V. �© 2012 Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.
