Algorithmic Trading Developer
The Algorithmic IT team is distributed through the region in Hong Kong and Tokyo and Australia. The team works extremely closely with the Algorithmic Trading Quant team and with the Direct Execution team and sits alongside them on the trading floor.
This role is broad-based and will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the execution automation trading platform (strategy engines, crossing engines, smart order routers). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to system design and architecture decisions as well as be involved in implementing new features and maintenance of existing functionality. The role will also provide local second-level support of production issues escalated by the first-level support team.
Having past experience (with evidence) of developing business-critical software in an environment that requires flexibility and high productivity is crucial. The successful candidate is expected to have the technical aptitude and the self-confidence to contribute significantly within 3 months of being hired.
The candidate should:
- Have at least 3 full years of development experience in C++ and Java
- Have a good grasp of Object Oriented design principles.
- Have a thorough understanding of the Linux operating system and server side development on a Unix platform.
- Be able to demonstrate experience of designing and implementing reliable, scalable real-time applications in a distributed environment.
- Have deep knowledge of STL and preferably exposure to Boost or other third-party libraries
- Have experience of working in a front office environment with algorithmic or automated trading systems.
- Be comfortable working in a trading floor environment.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable:
- Market Data knowledge e.g. Reuters IDN/RDFD and RFA API
- Oracle/SQL experience
- STL, BOOST – C++ Libraries
- R/SPlus or similar package
- Equity trading business knowledge and APC market knowledge
Unix server side development and development tools.
