Business Unit Overview:
BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) is responsible for business and product strategy for over $100 billion in alternative assets under management at BlackRock today, through our single strategy hedge funds and opportunistic funds, funds of hedge funds (BAA), private equity, funds of private equity funds (PEP), real estate and real assets platforms. Our alternative investment capabilities are fully integrated into BlackRock, allowing investment teams to capitalize on the firm's considerable resources in areas such as risk management, product development, client service and operational support.

In partnership with our Global Client Group (GCG), BAI will coordinate product prioritization, development and distribution in order to meet our clients' needs and a common operations and administration platform that will exceed client expectations by partnering with our Operations and Administration groups. BAI is also charged with identifying and executing upon growth opportunities to expand the range of our products, leveraging the global insights and capabilities of our firm. Job Background:
The BAI Alternative Investment Strategy Group (AISG), which resides within BAI, is charged with working closely with the client coverage teams, portfolio management and other teams at BlackRock to develop, position and sell BlackRock's platform of alternative products and solutions to clients globally. They will also work with GCG on sales planning and strategy activities such as client segmentation, relationship mapping, intellectual thought piece creation and results tracking and monitoring.
Overview:
Reporting to the Head of BAI-Alternative Investments Strategy Group in Asia, this individual will support the development of client focused alternative investment strategies as well as support the continued growth of BlackRock's alternatives platform and product offering in Asia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Asia team in the product development of new alternative investment opportunities/products in Asia
- Interface with clients (both internal and external) in alternative investments strategies - including hedge funds, private equity, real estate and special situations
- Help create presentations for product development, client meetings and institutional conferences
- Work closely with the product engagement group to rationalise, develop and update BlackRock alternatives materials.
- Partner with Marketing to provide guidance and support on events, materials and thought pieces
- Work with local client facing teams to help optimize alternative solutions for key clients
- Creation of industry award submissions/white papers jointly with product teams and Marketing
Skills
Skills / Qualifications Required:
- 8 years of experience within financial services industry preferably within Alternative Investments.
- Direct Investment experience or alternative due diligence experience required.
- Experience in a client facing or product management team in the asset management or alternatives industry
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks
- Disciplined organization and project management skills
- Ambitious work ethic and professional disposition
- Excellent Excel and Powerpoint skills
- Strong verbal/ presentation skills
- MBA/ CFA/ CAIA is preferred but not required
- Language fluency in Chinese Mandarin is mandatory
