Americas Head of Credit Services
The Global Banking Markets (GBM) Credit Services team works closely with Relationship Managers (RMs) to help them prepare Credit Proposals for all GBM borrowing names across the Funds, FIG and Corporate sectors. By closely managing the annual review work load and encouraging deep collaboration between Credit Services, RMs, Credit Risk, and GBM Onboarding and Client Management Services (‘OCMS’), Credit Services maintains a flexible operating model ensuring new business transactions are consistently prioritised effectively to exploit revenue generating activities, and credit annual renewals are services in a quality and timely manner. The Regional Head CS will be accountable for management and delivery of Credit Services across the Americas for GBM.
The Credit Services function is embarking on a migration of all GBM credit service related activities into a single, global organisation, incorporating consistent standards, practices and technology. The Regional Head CS will support the Global Head of Credit Services Documentation with management and implementation of strategic change initiatives for the function across the Americas region.
Impact on the Business
- Accountable for delivery of Credit Services for GBM across Americas region, including management of onshore teams in New York and Mexico City, with potential for additional teams over time in Brazil and Argentina
Leadership Teamwork
- Responsible for the development of the onshore teams, succession planning and effective leadership to secure the highest standards of quality and timeliness of delivery and consistency of form, and works in partnership with offshore colleagues to do the same
Major Challenges
- Ensure relationships between Credit Services, OCMS, Credit Risk, and RMs are strategically forward looking, highly collaborative and productively engaged towards mutual business outcomes.
- Provide the highest quality, forward looking and professional Credit Services to GBM for the Americas portfolio and new business transactions.
- Provide clear and thoroughly considered guidance to the Offshore teams, to ensure any revision to operating practices or processes is appropriately agreed by all stakeholders and communicated effectively to the GSC to avoid the risk of any misinterpretation, ensuring a consistently high standard of finished product is achieved for the Americas and stakeholder expectations are exceeded.
- Ensure Credit Services’ management of Funds (onshore and offshore) is developed with business development objectives in mind, timely delivery of services, appropriate controls, thorough documentation and a high degree of data integrity. Review and with stakeholders formulate and deliver a best in class Credit Risk Management and control environment observing group policy and procedure documents.
- Manage within an agreed cost base, constantly challenging onshore activities for offshoring and identify opportunities to expand the offshore capability to facilitate same.
- Develop and manage a forward looking and strategic relationship with GBM across the region to ensure work load is considered well in advance, resources are effectively deployed and overdues are controlled within KPI’s.
- Develop and manage a forward looking and strategic relationship with Risk.
- Deputising for Global Head of Credit Services Documentation and the Regional Head, GBM Onboarding, Americas as required from time to time
- Recruitment, training and development of Credit Services onshore teams within the Americas region.
- Developing Desktop Instruction Manuals for each CS onshore location and keeping it up to date
Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of banking experience, with a minimum of 5 years within an investment bank
- 5 years of credit risk management experience, with a minimum of 2 years within an investment bank.
- Proven ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Highly developed leadership and management ability.
- Excellent analysis, design and problem solving skills.
- Strong commercial and financial management experience with a proven track record in a service company type model.
- Proven ability to lead, run and implement a global project in different countries across the Americas, including ability to travel.
- Highly developed negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Able to manage and constructively resolve conflicting views and where necessary, appropriately escalate to senior management.
