AML/ Account Opening Compliance Manager recruitment
Overview
Our client is a leading global banking and financial services firm with an established footprint in Asia. Due to sustained growth in the region a newly created role exists within the Private Wealth Management Compliance division. The role requires an understanding of AML and prior Account Opening experience is important.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To be the senior advisor on the account opening, customer due diligence and AML risk for the Private Bank in Hong Kong.
- Oversee 2-3 people who are primarily focused on account opening and customer due diligence and ensure smooth management of the account opening process and provide high level guidance to the team on regulatory awareness and legal, reputational issues in respect of customer on-boarding.
- Develop and streamline the account opening process. Working closely with the middle office function to provide a seamless approach, enhance customer experience and evolve the account opening function.
- Provide business senior management with information on issues, concerns and trends in the account opening process.
- Work with the global account opening teams in each regional to ensure consistent approaches are followed globally.
- Ensure that internal policy adheres to all local regulation.
- Work with the Middle Office functions to train and increase MO experience of account opening process and risks.
- Be thought leader in appraising and assessing AML risk and advise business on risk.
- Provide high quality training to front office on AML/CDD and sanctions risks.
- Help ensure that products and services offered in Hong Kong (including cross border booking services), comply with local regulation through the Product Programme process, coving new products issuance and existing product reviews.
- Assist in the preparation of compliance related MIS reports for reporting / escalating to Private Bank senior management team.
- To attend corporate governance meetings and brief the senior management team key compliance related matters.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 7 years' relevant working experience.
- Thorough knowledge of banking and other laws and regulations in Hong Kong.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Good judgement enabling the provision of sound advice in difficult areas of practice.
- An inquisitive approach to practices, procedures and specific transactions.
- Independenceand robustness.
- Personal authority, integrity and ethics.
- Ability to communicate well with business people (as they may not be familiar with compliance issues).
